The verdict
Contrast invented the category and still drapes over dense, textured miniatures with the smoothest gradient — its medium was engineered for exactly that. Speedpaint 2.0 delivers a very similar single-coat result at roughly half the price per milliliter, in dropper bottles, with a wilder color selection.
On value, Speedpaint wins cleanly. Pick Contrast when you paint heavily-sculpted fantasy miniatures and shop at a local game store; pick Speedpaint for everything else, especially bulk work.
